HOOKS – Daingerfield continues rolling in district play, as the Tigers defeated the Hooks Hornets on Oct. 20 to improve to 3-0 in district and 4-3 on the season.

For the second week in a row, the Daingerfield Tiger defense has shut out the opposition in the second half to pull away from Hooks and DeKalb. Meanwhile, the offense has scored 92 points over those last two games. Over three district games, the Tigers have outscored their opponents 147-40.

In typical Tiger fashion, Daingerfield won the toss and deferred to the second half. The Hornets opening drive stalled after gaining only six yards, and Daingerfield’s offense was quickly on the field. Neither team seemed too interested in lighting up the scoreboard, as the Tigers first drive also stalled out, followed by another Hooks punt.

Daingerfield made sure their second drive counted, scoring on a five yard touchdown run by Tiger signal-caller Jakauri Woods. A Jose Bello extra-point made the score 7-0. Bello’s ensuing kick-off set up Hooks at their own 35 yard line. After two good pass plays, Daingerfield’s defense found themselves in the facing a first and goal at the six yard line. The Tigers’ defense stiffened, causing the Hornets to be short on fourth and goal, turning the ball over on downs to end the first quarter.
