HUGHES SPRINGS – One area family is counting their blessings as their son is recovering from third-degree burns he received on March 24. Ten year old Hunter Finney was severely burned when a gas can exploded in his hand. Hunter is currently recovering from the burns, as well as skin graft surgeries, in the burn unit at Parkland Hospital.

Rocky and Kristen Finney live in the Cornett Community with their three children. Hunter, the only boy, was a typical 10-year-old boy who loved to jump on the trampoline, ride his bike, and draw. He spent his time catching fish and crawfish and hunting hogs with his parents. On March 24, however, Hunter experienced an event that no one ever thinks will happen to them.
